Finding the University

The Department of German Studies is in the University of Vienna's main building on Universitätsring 1, directly next to the underground station "Schottentor"/"Universität" (line U2).

Coming from outside of Vienna, this is how you reach the station:

• travelling by airplane: at Vienna International Airport, mount the metropolitan train (line S7, not  the CAT). Take the S7 to Praterstern, there change to the underground (U2 direction Karlsplatz) - 3 stops to Schottentor.
• travelling by train: 
  arriving at Westbahnhof: take the underground (U3 direction Simmering) until Volkstheater, there change to U2 direction Seestadt - 2 stops to Schottentor.
  arriving at Hauptbahnhof: There is a direct connection with tramway D (direction Nussdorf).
• travelling by coach: Most international coaches arrive at Vienna International Busterminal (VIB) next to the underground station Erdberg. From there, take the U3 (direction Ottakring) until Volkstheater, where you change to U2 direction Seestadt  - 2 stops to Schottentor.
